West Central Florida Section Field Day Caravan

DATE:  Saturday June 24, 2017

CARAVAN PARTICIPANTS:  The Caravan will consist of two teams for the first time in the history of the Field Day Caravan:

  • Darrell Davis KT4WX, Section Manager, and Christine Duez KK4KJN, Section Youth Coordinator will tour Polk, Pasco, Pinellas, and Hillsborough Counties.
  • Ben Henley KI4IGX, Section Emergency Coordinator and Randy Payne K4EZM, Assistant Section Manager will tour Highlands, Hardee, Desoto, Charlotte, Sarasota, and Manatee Counties.

Since there are two teams doing the caravan this year, both teams will be able to cover their areas and complete their tours by late Saturday evening.  This will allow for more time at each stop and to see more amateur radio operators at each stop as well.

TRACKING THE CARAVAN:  You will be able to track the teams on APRS.  You can go to the website http://www.aprs.fi and enter the following callsigns for each team.  Also you click on the link below for the track of each team:

Note:  One of the teams will be running APRSdroid or APRSIMO.  So if you are tracking on RF you will only see K4WCF-9 on RF.

REGISTERING FOR A VISIT:  If you wish for a visit to your club or group Field Day operation, please be sure to register on the ARRL Field Day Locator at the ARRL website at http://www.arrl.org/field-day-locator, if you have not already done so.  We ask that you register by Saturday June 10th, so we will have time to create the itinerary and publish it here so everyone will have time to incorporate that itinerary into their Field Day plans .  This database entries will be used to plan the itinerary for both caravan teams.

CARAVAN ITINERARY:  The itinerary will be published here tentatively on Monday June 12th.  Please check back then.  A WCF PRESS RELEASE will be disseminated to announce the itinerary publication.
